This book is a terrific read. Enlightning, humorous, poignant, entertaining, eloquent, informative, and ubiquitous in scope. Like a good potato chip, you will never settle for just one essay at a time! The book may be read in a linearly orderly way, or by selecting essays completely at random. In either case, you will not be disappointed. Become the star conversationalist at the cocktail party, or at the dinner table with the grands— Grandparents or grandkids! A very worthwhile book . Enjoy the smorgasbord! You will not be disappointed!!

Mr Curtin’s book is an immensely entertaining and informative compendium of his blog posts over the last few years. Where else could I learn that the “philtrum” is the grove located below the nose and above the lip…or that the bottom of the wine bottle is the “punt”?
That’s not to say that his oeuvre does not include more serious and important information such as when Niels Bohr won a Nobel Prize in 1922, Carlsburg gave him a house with a complimentary pipeline to its brewery.
You can just pick it up at any time and flip pages randomly and make yourself smarter or the hit of the cocktail party (if such things still exist) by learning some obscure fascinating factoid.
This is such a great book that in our household we have accorded it the honor of placing it in the same place where Martin Luther formulated and wrote many of his ideas that changed the course of western civilization.

Something great to learn every day! Amazing scope of information. Of particular interest for me was the chapter “Isaac Newton, and John Maynard Keynes Walk into a Bar”!
